Don’t Swap Your Job For A Job

I want you to take a few moments to consider what you want out of your internet business.

You see, recently, I found myself stressed, tired, and overworked. I took a step back and realized to my horror, that I was working harder and longer than I’d ever worked in my jobs. I’d made the mistake of thinking that I had to put the long hours in before I could have a rest.

This is of course, complete rubbish.

Now, if you are about to do a big product or site launch, then maybe you will be working long hours, but the point of having a web-based business is to cut out the commuting and all the crap that goes with the rat race.

Work out how much you want to be making, and then put in the bare minimum effort required to give you that lifestyle. I speak as a workaholic here. I emigrated and moved to the beach in Perth, and what did I do? I ended up working like crazy again. Stupid – Stupid – Stupid.

Now I force myself to take days off. I don’t really work weekends, and I have walks with my wife and long breakfasts on the marina. I love working on the web, but I passed what I actually need to live on income-wise a long time ago.

Have fun.

It is all a matter of priorities. My life as I want to live it is more important than the job.

Sometimes sacrifices must be made to get ahead. Like you said, it is about knowing when you have enough. Working long hours does have its rewards.

It does have rewards, but having a goal to reach and maintaining it when you reach that goal should be given attention too. You should know when to stop.

We all need to take a break from work once in a while. PRIORITIZE. I believe family, health, happiness, love, career should be well-balanced. Or else, we might lose or have a problem with the rest.

Well-said, Skye! We should always prioritize and make time for ourselves.

It’s hard when you want a better future for your family but you need to sacrifice a lot of quality time with them. I think there should be a day for making up for the hours lost.

Love your work and you will never work for a day in your life :-).

That’s right. And of course you need to balance things out in your life. I agree, you have to know your priorities but you also eed to prioritize your health as when you become unhealthy, everything you’ve worked for will only mean nothing.

Well I guess we can all be crazy workaholics. That’s people’s nature but we really need to relax sometimes to be able to clear your head and be right back on track. Work hard, play hard, and relax 🙂
