If I Had to Start From Scratch
I often get asked this by friends or other people who have an interest in internet marketing but feel that they might have misssed the boat for some reason.
Another strange idea which seems to stick with people is that those who have ‘made it’ online (whatever that means) had some special advantage, help from a guru or some other secret which they aren’t privvy to.
The truth is that anyone can create a great web based income if they find the right subject matter and can create products which appeal to their market sector. However, if I were to start from scratch again, with no site and no customers or list, this is what I’d do.Firstly I’d work out what I love to do, talk about, write about or think about most of the time. I’d think about how I could use the information to help other people solve a pressing problem they have. It would mainly be around giving them information to help them do or learn something to solve the problem.
Second. I’d create a website with WordPress and write a short tips booklet or film a short video as a giveaway if you join my newsletter (set up via Aweber or similar).
Third. I’d build the site with a few blog posts, Facebook page and Twitter (maybe not Twitter as I don’t like it much).
Fourth. I’d start creating some products around this subject matter. Preferably a continuity membership site but if not that, video based learning with maybe some webinars and e-mail coaching. I’d have a smaller priced entry level product building up to high ticket items.
Have fun.
