Launch – Jeff Walker
The hype around this book was huge as you would expect if you know anything about Jeff Walker.
The full title is ‘Launch – An Internet Millionaire’s Secret Formula To Sell Almost Anything Online, Build a Business You Love, And Live The Life Of Your Dreams.’ This is a huge promise so does it deliver?
I’ve actually completed Jeff Walkers’ online Product Launch Formula (PLF) course which cost $1999 at the time. I went through every video and took action and as a result, created a website giving me a secondary online income of around $50,000 per year so the stuff in there works.
The title does NOT reflect the contents of the book I’m afraid to say. And at 186 pages including bibliography and introductions and back-patting quotes from peers, you would be hard-pressed to even scratch the surface. In my experience, creating an online business involves a vast amount of tasks such as:
- Product creation
- Building a website
- Taking online payments
- Product delivery (physical or digital)
- Autoresponder setup
- After-sales/helpdesk
To name just a few things.
This book is more of an outline of some of the things you will need such as a big list of e-mail subscribers and how to get joint venture (JV) partners to come on board. Jeff covers much of the psychology he uses for the PLF and this is the best part of the book. You get the core message of the PLF but for a few bucks.
If you are new to internet marketing, you will get to the end of the book and realize that you are a long way off from launching a product. I know no single book can give you everything you need but I really feel that the title does not reflect the content. It would be more appropriate to call it ‘Launch Psychology and Tactics.’
I was hoping that the case studies would give me some more details but they really only give you stories of people who have used the launch formula to great success. I recognize the names from the $1999 video course I took so these guys had used that and not the book.
The book has hit the New York Times Bestseller list and the same for Amazon and I congratulate Jeff for that. I feel that the success was more due to his huge list and that of his JV partners than due to the actual contents of the book.
The bottom line is this. This book will really help you get the steps and psychology for a launch right but you will have to refer to a large number of other resources to actually accomplish your launch. The bonus website is basically just a large set of links to websites such as HostGator, ClickBank, GoDaddy, etc.
Have Fun.

I am interested in this book now, however I am more interested in what you think is needed to get in on this market. Is having a marketable product the secret? Do these email lists really make a difference?
What other resources work best in conjunction with this book?
Depends where you want to go. Start with my free e-book.

E-mail list is everything. REad my free e-book.

Can you tell me how high the importance of the web design is to create a good website? We are talking about income generating sites. Is the design important as much as the content of the website?

Can you guarantee the effectiveness of the ideas and methods in the book?
The secret is staring us right in the face, time and time again. We buy these books and other information products like courses to learn how to be successful and make money. The skeleton model is always the same – the tasks that you summarised – all no different to any other Internet Marketing guide. It’s repeated hundreds on times on Warrior Forum. What’s the subject that will always sell, for generations current and future? How to make money. What are individuals like Jeff Walker doing? Selling us something. So what is the result? He’s making money. I could book a hotel conference room for a day for a few hundred pounds, hold a ‘Make money with Internet Marketing’ workshop, charge £300 a seat, 20 people, £6k earnings minus the room and other expenses. I could regurgitate the same model quoting proven success stories. Enough information to make people believe the course was well worth attending, as these books lead us to believe, but not quite the ‘golden key’ which is, what product to create / sell, as that’s a personal choice depending on one’s skills, knowledge, interests. And I’m sure we all know, that is the most hardest park – identifying a viable product. The missing element from this strategy? Credibility. Why would people trust me and pay to hear it from me, if I myself haven’t personally gone through the journey and come out of the other end with a Ferrari parked outside to show for it. Sure you could fake credibility – Tim Ferris touched on how to create ‘expert’ status. But ideally, I would go through the model once, make a bit of money, then I can show up at my workshop with a shiny big watch and tailored suit, appearing successful, and say ‘I did it, so can you’. So to close, is it time for us to stop feeding other peoples claimed success buy buying their ‘How to make money’ products, and think for ourselves, using the ton of free information out there. Thoughts?? PS. I follow Paul Browning because I attended one of his CCNA bootcamp many years ago and I specifically remember him saying his aim is to retire by the age of 40, how he lived without a TV, and offered me a new energy drink that he was promoting in the UK (what happened to that?). Paul has created his own products, and he offers his 30 Day eBook for free. He’s not selling us a £2,000 course on how to make money, which in turn makes him money (unless that’s an affiliate link in the post?!).
Maybe I will decide to buy this book. Paul rated it useful and I always appreciate his opinion.
I wanted to buy the book, but now I’m having second thoughts. I’m a bit daunted that can not find all the information about launching the job at one place, but I have to take an additional research.
The title looks promising, but I’m wondering about the quality of the content.
Okay, here are some good and bad comments, so I will think for few more days before I make my final decision.
I have read this book. I think that it’s good and this is something that I can really recommend to all people interested in this book.
This book is really worth the money. Just like you, I had to think twice before I decided to buy this book, but this book just surprised me! I couldn’t ask for more from Paul.
Just got off from reading an article from this site and I was curious with this one. I am planning to buy because this is something that I think will be helpful in improving my business, but are there any feedback about the book?
I will greatly appreciate your response, help me decide. Thanks!
This book provides a lot of insights and is very helpful, but I’m not going to tell you a lot good things about this book, you have to find out yourself. 🙂
All in all, 101% I will recommend that you buy this book.
This book looks very interesting. I think it’s going to be a good read and will definitely help improve my business a lot. I will definitely buy this! Thanks!
