Results Don’t Lie
The picture is of weighing scales but I could be talking about anything in our lives of course. It just so happens that about 90% of people think about their weight regularly and want it to be different to what it actually is.
The truth is of course that we are only lying to ourselves if we make out we are doing something about it but then skip training sessions and eat junk. The results stare right back at us as we climb onto the scales at the end of the week.
Results can include:
- Our bank balance
- The state of our relationships
- How our children behave towards us
- How others treat us
- Our earning potential
- The success of our business
Whatever we want in fact.
The cornerstone philosophy of any success strategy is ‘Results Don’t Lie.’

Funny you mention this, trousers also don’t lie as well 🙂
No input results in no output. Or, as my old business studies teacher used to say during the BSE mad cow disease crisis, if you feed them sh**, you are going to get sh**.
Cheers,

If you want to reap the reward, you need to put in the effort. You’re right; no matter what you are trying to change, the first step is to actually do something about it.
Lying to yourself is so counterproductive. I know people who are able to convince themselves that they have done more than they really have. They are not too successful, in general.
Being true to yourself will enable you to succeed. If you lie to yourself, you aren’t meeting your commitment toyour goal.
I have passed my CCNA (Took it on Sunday) After a long slog, funny thing is when I knuckled down for 3 months because I was so desperate to find a new job I got the focus I needed to pass the damned thing !!
Thanks to all the guys at http://www.howtonetwork.net
Well done on passing your CCNA
IT just goes to show that if you really want something really badly its possible with a wee bit of sweat and sometimes a great deal of tears
I think that just about anyone can agree that you only get what you put into something. Professionally you will not advance in your career if you do not put 110% into your work. The same thing can be said for any aspect of our lives. Although, I will admit that I sometimes am guilty of thinking I put more into a task then what I actually did.
That is Correct, Although we must keep a positive attitude about what we want to achieve as a result, we must also put ourselves in alignment with our goal. There is a proverb in Asia about a farmer that waits under the tree waiting for the apple to fall on him he rests endlessly under the shade.
I think we can really put work in everything we do, I don’t suggest you become a workhorse but understand everything needs paying. As it was written more than 2000 years ago “whatever ye sow, ye shall reap. “
We need to defy what the meters tell us, what the doctor tells us, what the weighing scale tell us. Neil armstrong for example, after being diagnosed positive with cancer, sought an outlet to forget his disease and focus on healthy thought, He then prepared a plan to keep riding his bicycle. This proves sheer desire mixed with a plan can get you anywhere regardless what the scales tell you.
I think we all say too many excuses for our shortcomings, in the end the results matter. Though I ask you, is it ethical or even morally correct to say the ends justify the means???
Results don’t lie if, You step in the weighing scale it says 240 lbs. you go the mirror to confirm that. Thats enough reason for you not to doubt anymore!
Seriously though. Bellies don’t shrink by themselves. your bank account won’t add zeroes by itself, even your kids will not discipline and train themselves. Everything needs something in exchange!!!
I?m new to this blog, and enjoying reading these older posts. This one caught my attention because the scales have been telling me it?s time to start whining about needing to drop some weight and actually start doing it. But more to the point, hoping and talking doesn?t accomplish goals, doing does.
