Testing – Why Bother?

??????????????????Successful internet marketers are obsessed about one thing – testing.

I’ve tended to avoid it because I’m not a detail person, I tend to be big picture and follow my gut instinct. Take e-mail for example. I’ve never sent a newsletter or product launch on a Monday. Why? Because everyone is getting back to work from the weekend and they have lots of e-mails to get through AND they are usually depressed.

But, here is one big big reason you should be testing.Money.

I’m guessing that money is a motivator for you if you are on this site.

What if you could generate 20% more income for zero extra effort this year? What if doing one of the below did just that for you:

  • Changing your headline
  • Changing a colour on your site
  • Adding an image of your product
  • Offering part payments
  • Opening your product for sale one day per month
  • Adding some special bonuses to your product

You see, if you don’t test stuff you will never know what your customers really want. I saw a huge leap in sales for one of my products when I only let people buy it over 2-3 days per month (with a product launch). Prior to that sales just about tricked in.

I tested a higher price for 2 months but it died so I put it back to $97.

The rule for testing is simple. Test only one thing at a time and test it against a control. A control is the set format of doing things and this never changes. You can send traffic to one version of your sales page for one month and another the next or split your e-mail offer to two different pages and track results.

You could make a huge pile of extra free cash when you start testing.

Have fun.
