What’s So Bad With ‘Get Rich Quick’?

They seem to get such a bum deal for some reason. Hey, if there is a way to make a big pile of cash in a short period of time then I’ll take a look at it for sure. It is free to look after all. I do know of people who have gotten rich quick.

One guy found some cheap land, bought it and resold it to a developer the next week for a massive profit. Another launched a website which was featured in the press and he made a million in a week. The site is called Million Dollar Home Page. I know another guy who did a big product launch and made $6 million in six minutes! He was a big name in internet marketing already but it was a get rich quick for sure.

I think when people refer to the ‘get rich quick’ they like to add the word ‘scheme’ on the end which of course changes the tone of the entire concept. A scheme brings to mind some sort of devious, short term plan, hatched by greedy people who want your money for something which won’t work.

The way to avoid these is of course something called due?diligence. Check the person out and the company. Check the?legalities?of the proposition. It really isn’t that hard. If there is a way to get rich in a short period of time then it is certainly worth a look isn’t it?

Makes sense. I think many people have closed eyes when it comes to ideas around making money. Trouble is that they miss out on the good ideas too!

Short term quick money won’t last long. A successful cause needs dedication and determination in long run.

I think that many people associate ‘get rich quick’ with ‘schemes’ is because it sounds too good to be true.

Good point, Fredo. The examples that you gave are the exception to the rule. We are all taught that in order to become rich, you have to work hard (for a long time). It is hard to become an overnight success.

I am weary of get rich quick options. If it is too easy to get, it can be too easy to lose.

When I hear the words “get rich quick”, I always think of something negative. When I think about it, though, you can get rich quick by trading stocks wisely or making great real estate deals.

Since this post is in the ?internet marketing category, there?s an implication that internet marketing is a ?get rich quick? scheme. Using common sense and doing ?due diligence? as Paul advises, is important. Don?t invest more money in something than you can afford to lose, but if an opportunity strikes your fancy and you follow common sense, why not give it a try.
