When Dreams Come True
My dream for a few years now has been to emigrate to Australia. I’ve been here twice so far and each time, for the first time on my holidays, I’ve been very sad to leave for home.
By the time I usually get to the end of a holiday I’m missing home and ready to go back. Not so for Australia.
So I set the goal, dreamed the dream, did the work and achieved what I’ve really wanted. But here are two thoughts on what happens when dreams come true.
First – when your dream is actually fulfilled something strange happens. You can often feel what can only be described as grief. Olympic athletes exerience this when they train from childhood and then win the medal. Everything they have lived for has suddenly gone. It went because it was always in the future and is now here. Nothing left to strive for.
Second – life goes on. Unless you dream was a lottery win, you still have to get up and get ready for work or ready to work. Dress and feed children, exercise, go shopping and in fact live your life as usual. I only say this because I’ve done so many things and striven for so much and each time I fool myself that I will somehow feel different or that life will be different.
It is of course or more to the point, in achieving the thing, you become a better person but your life remains your life.
Have fun and enjoy the journey!

I have been to Australia once. And, as you said, I would love to live there. It isn’t only the perfect destination for a holiday, but also a beautiful place to live in.

I have never been to Australia. But if you want to emigrate there, I am sure it is worth. I hope I will see Australia someday.
