Who to Ask for Advice
When I decided to start my first business I brought it up in conversation with a few friends. Some of them had?an
immediate look of horror on their faces. They said:
‘Is it a good time to be starting a business?’
‘What market research have you done?’
‘Why not do it next year when the economy has improved?’ (it was 2003).
I realize now that none of those people had ever ran their own business. They all said they wanted to but held themselves back for a number of reasons known only to themselves.
Rumi says that if you are looking for travel advice, not to ask somebody whose lameness keeps them bound to one place.

It courageous of you to make the first step ! Without trying one can never gain success.
Just ask yourself for advice ~~
Go, Rumi!! “Why should I fear?”
I agree. When you ask for someone’s advise who has no experience in the subject, it should be for entertainment value only!
Well said, Terry!
Good point. Would you ask a butcher for legal advice, or vice versa. Stay in your lane!
I only ask advice from people who I think have something to tell me. In my experience, most people just want to discourage you. There are a lot of people out there who are not willing to try new things, so when you want to do something new, they feel like they need to tell you not to. Keep strong, though. I don’t listen to unsolicited advice anymore.
My father always told me not to ask for advice if I wasn’t willing to hear the answer. I take that very seriously when I decide to ask someone to listen and comment on my thoughts. It makes me more receptive to their criticism.
Knowing who to ask for advice about specific topics is the first step toward building a really strong team. Everyone will have their own areas of expertise, and you need to learn who is the best fit for what you need.
